God of War is a game with a deep plot that focuses on its characters and their unique backstory. This time, players will not go through a large-scale massacre of another pantheon but will experience a melancholy journey through a cold, strange, and cruel world. The game tells the story of Kratos, fleeing north with his son Atreus, heading to the highest mountain to scatter his dead wife's ashes. Atreus is unaware that he is the son of a god; he does not know where his father came from, what he fled from, and what he has managed to accomplish. During the game's storyline, the characters go through all the expected stages of relationship development, and their emotional connection gradually becomes stronger. The game has a lot of dialogues that help liven up the characters and the atmosphere. And from a particular moment, you will meet a character named Mimir - he will be a guide to the world of Scandinavian mythology and will tell you many interesting stories and myths. God of War has the Dark Souls atmosphere - the ruins and desolation around, people are leaving Midgard. Only beasts, bandits, and gods stuck on the verge of madness are left in this world. The former grandeur of this universe can only be imagined by looking at the ruins and sunken temples. The history of these places is partly told through Mimir's stories, but even more so through the beautiful game visuals. The game has about fifteen side quests, each with its own story. It even has several full-fledged chains with a separate storyline - for example, the search for the Gnome King or the liberation of the Valkyries. God of War is now a full-fledged RPG - with crafting, loot, and levels. The role system in God of War is relatively simple - kill enemies, gain experience, open new combos and upgrades. All equipment can be changed with a lot of options. Different sets of armor have a distinct influence on essential characteristics - something gives more power, something speeds up the recovery of abilities, something adds luck, and so on. You can select your playstyle: choose to play Dark Souls, relying on tumbling and parrying, or classic God of War-style, or even combine both mechanics. God of War is a delightful, tactile game when it comes to fighting. The game can show incredibly cool, spectacular battles - an actual combat dance where every move is calibrated and not a single opportunity is missed.
