Football Manager 2022 for PC marks the return of the well-loved franchise. At this stage, it is very nearly 30 years old, having started in 1992 under the name of Championship Manager. This version of the game offers more of what fans love: great teams, superbly realised stadiums and an authentic gameplaying experience, alongside the chance to manage your dream football team from provincial footie all the way to the top championships.
About the GameTo begin with a couple of items of interest: the game is so realistic, scouring the world for players from every country and skill level, from club to national team that it actually alerted the national selectmen to the fact that a pair of brothers were eligible to play for the country on the international level – they would otherwise have slipped notice as they were living elsewhere. Once chosen, one of the brothers became that country’s best scorer! The game also served as a thorough showcase for another young man, gaining him a real life job as a football manager. True, it was only of a third tier team, but as Football Manager ably demonstrates, you can rise from rags to riches once you are given the opportunity and a fair shake at it! Bearing these facts in mind, here are some ways to get the most out of your FM2022 experience. First of all, pick achievable goals – yes, you want to shoot for the stars and win the big leagues, but to begin with match your team with a decent budget and decent targets if you want to win and make your way up the rankings. Save your big dreams for the big teams! Take it all one step at a time. Don’t think ahead to the finals or the premier league – focus on your next game. At each stage, if one hundred percent of your focus is on winning the next game, and the next game only, you are more likely to succeed. Once you are in the habit of doing this, you can simply repeat your tactics of studying the opposition, choosing the best team, and going all out for the win – all the way to the top! Manchester United were almost not included in this game, as there was a glitch with the licensing agreement. Had this not been resolved, the team would have appeared under a different name: but even without the name, fans of the Red Devils will have no problem recognising their favourite players, even in disguise! It is promised that women’s football will make an appearance in the game in future, but is not yet with us – and will probably not appear in Football Manager 23, according to industry insiders. But data on female players are already being gathered, so this seems to be a promise that will be kept.
The Nitty GrittyIn the game, the graphics are new and improved, with footage and movements looking and feeling authentic: so realistic, in fact, that it will give you a genuine match-day high if you win! There are already plenty of licenced leagues and possibly more to come as more of the real life versions sign to allow their virtual existence to be unleashed. Good news for existing fans: if you have loads of currency in FM 21, you can carry across your points, but, sadly, not your coins, so make sure you spend those in the old game before tackling the new offerings. And finally, a new feature called Recruitment Meetings is now part of scouting for new talent adding another layer of realism to the scouting and wooing process of securing new talent before other teams pip you at the post.
Challenge Yourself!Career mode is revamped and mostly this is a good thing, with some excellent points. Emphasis is on completing challenges, and you can create your own challenges to win. Try out some of these or think up suitably intense quests for yourself.
