Control (Xbox ONE / Xbox Series X|S) - Europe
Control - is a 2019 action-adventure game. It is one of the most interesting, smart, and unusual games of this generation. And almost the best Remedy game.
Game PlotControl begins with an allusive description of the "Platonic cave." The main character reports that people live in the sensual world and do not suspect that reality is much more complex and richer than they can see, touch and hear. Only in the case of the Remedy game, the cave is replaced with the prison cell from The Shawshank Redemption. The world is a cage, people's fantasy and boundaries are a poster on the wall, and the true reality is behind the poster. Actually, it is "behind the poster" that all the action of the game takes place. The headquarters of the Bureau of Reality Control is located in the Oldest House - a place where the line between thoughts and the sensual world is almost erased. In the Oldest House, a girl named Jessie Faden is not just a guest. She came to take the position of director of the Bureau. Oddly enough, this job does not require leadership experience, just a unique set of skills. So when Jessie arrives at a new job, she knows no more about the Bureau of Control than the player does. However, other characters quickly give her the necessary settings: the building is a mess, the previous director is dead, and the Bureau and some of its employees are gradually captured by an ominous entity. Jessie also has her own ulterior motives to get into the building, which she gradually gives out to the player, but in order to fulfill her goals, she still needs to save the Oldest House first, and at the same time the whole world. So she immediately gets to work.
GameplayJesse explores a giant building, upgrades her weapons, listens to audio, watches videos, reads notes, solves puzzles, captures control points (they are also saving spots and fast travel locations), gains new abilities, and with their help, opens passages to new locations. There are two ways to complete the game. If you explore every nook and cranny, kill optional bosses, and complete side missions, it can take you over 20-25 hours to complete. If you want to get a more linear narrative, you can easily run through the main quest in 15 hours without missing anything important to the story. The weapon in the hands of the main character is formally one - it is an object of power in the form of a pistol. It can change shape and turn into all the main types of "firearms" - from shotguns to submachine guns and sniper rifles. If desired, you can attach special modules to each of the forms, which can, for example, speed up the restoration of health or dramatically increase damage if the main character is dying.
